Fifa 'not concerned' about hooligans at Russia World Cup
|
Fifa president Gianni Infantino says he is "not at all concerned" by the threat of hooliganism at next year's World Cup in Russia.
At Euro 2016, there were violent clashes between Russian and English supporters in Marseille.
One Russian fan, speaking as part of a BBC documentary to be broadcast on Thursday, said trouble is "100% guaranteed" at the 2018 World Cup.
Infantino also said the 2026 event could be hosted by multiple countries.
But he said the countries would "ideally" be close to one another for "the ease of travel".
Football's world governing body agreed in January on a 48-team World Cup in 2026. The bidding process has not begun yet for the tournament.
"It is perfectly in line with our sustainability and legacy to maybe bring together two, three, four countries who can jointly present a project with three, four, five stadiums each" said Infantino, speaking during a visit to Qatar on Thursday.

is neil concerned about hooligans at the world cup?
Cause I'm very concerned about hooligans at the world cup. Although I understand if they are very necessary, as a football fan, then they have to... Does he understand?

If he isn't worried about violence and racism in Russia he is a bigger fool than Blatter. The cheque has obviously cleared so there is no chance of them talking down Russia.
2018 and 2022 should have been England and then Australia but money in brown paper bags wins.

I think going over to multiple hosts for the new 48 team finals is a no brainer. Makes sense on every level.

It'll be carnage over there unless it's really strictly policed. The local Russian hoolies will be trying to have a pop at both sets of fans in every town there's a game to prove they can take everyone. It's not like you can stop them travelling anywhere seen as it's their own country.
I don;t think the Russian police or armed forces will particularly give a fuck though.

The 2020 Euros are already going to 13 host countries with the semi finals and final at Wembley That's as good as England is going to get as regards hosting another tournament

Why would he be concerned? It doesn't effect him in any way.

Unconcerned again why should he be it wont touch him in his Swiss ivory tower. You must be seriously mental to entertain going to Russia to watch England, if we get there.
What rhymes with Russian football hooligan

An unnamed Russian hooligan says: 'I am going to give some free advice to the guys that might come here. Learn the history of our country. We are at war every hundred years. We are natural born warriors, it's in our blood, but come to this country with a sword and you will die by that sword.'

Bloody hell- the lengths they seem to be going to in that article/tv show, just to prove what, exactly? So they can batter a load of people who don't want to fight them?
It would all be really funny in the vein of a Chris Morris show if it wasn't something that's actually real!

Well, to be fair, he's not going to say he's worried because it sort of implies that he is worried. And if he does it then the hooligans win. He's taking the dismissive approach in the hope that they feel so offended he isn't worried that they just stay at home.

Just go and blend into the background. Tight shorts, hoodies and a bumbag should keep you safe.

I'm amazed that anyone would go anyway. At the end of the day all you are doing is handing money over to both FIFA and Russia and at the same time getting your face smashed in or worse. Absolute madness.

2026 World Cup to be jointly hosted by the USA and Canada. That'll keep the travelling down for supporters.
